Random Tuesday - 1st Steps, Sickies, How To Lose A Guy In 10 Seconds, Hangovers, Couples Retreat

D Girl took her first steps last week! We happened to get it on video too. We actually got D Boy's first steps on video as well! Which by the way, they both started walking at the exact same age. Too bad my video camera won't let me upload the videos to the computer though. It says I need some software installed on my computer to do it. I've Googled it, but I haven't had any luck finding a solution.

D Girl also has had a fever since Friday. Nothing over 101 though. It was just weird because she didn't have any other symptoms with it until yesterday. She had woke up with a hoarse sounding cry. So I'm pretty sure that her throat must hurt. By the end of the day yesterday she finally didn't have a fever anymore. Hopefully it won't be back this morning.

So Saturday night I went to a piano bar with a couple friends for a birthday celebration. While we were there the funniest thing happened to me. This guy comes over and sits by me at the bar and offers to buy me a shot. I politely decline because I was only sticking to beer that night. So he turns to my friends and offers to buy them a shot. Of course those lushes say yes. So while we are waiting for the shots to be made, he asks us what we do for a living. It gets to my turn and I say that I'm a stay at home mom... ... crickets ... ... My friend then said, "...annnd END SCENE." We all just die laughing. He was NOT expecting to hear that at all. His face was just priceless. He had NO idea what to say. It was like I had just told him "Surprise! You're going to be my baby's daddy!"

Before I went out on Saturday night I Googled some hangover remedies. I tried some of the tips they said to do. Drink a glass of milk before drinking. No problem, I love milk. Have a full stomach before drinking. Check. Stick with the same kind of drink (preferably, light colored alcohol). I stuck with beer all night. Take a couple aspirin before going to bed. Check. Drink juice when you wake up. Check. I have to say it helped, but it didn't totally prevent a hangover. I'm notorious for getting a hangover VERY easily, especially the older I get. Usually I'm throwing up all morning and I don't fully recover until 8pm (ALWAYS, weird huh?) the next night. This time I didn't throw up at all. I just had a headache until 4pm. Not too bad. I'd call it a success for me!

During my recovery on Sunday morning, D Hubs and I watched Couples Retreat while D Boy was still at his Grammy's. D Hubs loved it and thought it was hilarious. I'd give it 3 1/2 out of 5 stars. There were definitely some really funny parts, but there were some a lot of scenes that were just too long. There was a lot of nonsense talk during some of the conversations. To the point where the original topic of their conversation just wasn't funny anymore. So I'd rent it, not buy it!

As always, for some more random thoughts go on over to Keely's!

Aww they grow up so fast don't they.. sighs I have TONS of video on my shelves that I seriously need to get transferred to DVD. Check out Radio Shack they have encoders that will play say VHS or even hard drive films and encode them for the computer.. I also have a program called NERO which does all that fancy stuff and burns it right to a DVD you pop in your DVD player at home..

The older I get, the longer it takes to recover from a hangover -- enter me, Sunday morning (okay, afternoon) feeling like death.

Also, yesterday morning, when I still felt at about 80%.

But, Saturday night was so fun that I think it was worth it.

Congrats to the babe on the steps!

Your friends sound like a riot... I can't believe you called them lushes! I'm sorry you still end up with a hangover. I wish I could give you some advice, but I'm 27 and still get a hangover from 2 glasses of wine.

Let the fun begin!

Sounds like you had a great time on Saturday. Water, water before going to bed is the key to not getting a hangover. The headache is caused by dehydration.

Once my girlie started walking she really thinned out! I couldn't believe how quickly her shape changed. They grow SO fast!

I can just imagine that guy's face!

Always. always, always drink 2 large glasses of water before you go to bed. Alcohol dehydrates you which causes the headache. Drinking water helps me TONS.

awww yay first steps! and thats so awesome that you got both their first steps on video!
you totally should have followed the stay at home mom with "also, kick ass p90x coach".
my hangover cure- a full glass/bottle of water before bed. like as much water as you can get it. helps me big time.

I want to see these first steps! HOW CUTE!! I love when babies first take off walking... cracks me up:)

And oh my goodness - I have that happen to me at the bar too. They look at me like some kind of alien once I say I have kids... WHATEVER! lol

oh and do you guys have gravol down in the United States? If you don't - I am going to send you some. Because seriously - I am the WORST with hangovers. I am like you - almost no matter what I do, I am sick sick sick... SICK! So anyway, before I go to bed I drink a big ol' glass of water and I have a Gravol. It's an anti-nausea drug... it makes me sleep but I also wake up and I feel GOOD. If I still feel yucko, then I cut one more in half in the morning and I am good to go for the day.

Okay, super duper long comment but thought I would suggest all that!!

Happy Tuesday!

How did I manage to forget to congratulate you on baby's first steps??? That's a huge milestone!

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one with a dramatic hubby :)

Okay, now just wait until you're old enough that people believe that you are a stay at home mom, but you still get the crickets. Cuz it's not a legit thing, ya know.

Some of those remedies I never heard of. Sounds like you're really close at figuring out how to prevent it. I normally try to pace myself and eat something before I start drinking. I usually find that my headaches are from dehydration, so I drink a lot of water before I go to bed.

Congratulations on the baby's first steps. Now you'll be surprised as to how fast they can move.

Thanks for your randomness,

Uh oh, now you will have 2 to run after!

I agree about Couples Retreat. Some laughs but it kinda dragged in parts.

That's hilarious! I love piano bars by the way.

I also get hangovers super easily!! It sucks, I have no idea how I used to be able to drink a ton like two nights in a row. Now I need a week to just recover from a few glasses of wine. (not quite, but you get my drift).

I agree with you on the Couples Retreat movie. There were some funny parts but most of the move was lacking.

We are such good movie critics!

(I just saw that you have a button and just HAD to snag it! Thanks!)

Yay for walking!

I love the reaction of that guy in the bar too - don't you wish you had *that* on video?!

Couple Retreat was pretty funny, but the funniest scenes were already shown in the previews IMO... I hate when that happens.

Hope you little girl is feeling better soon.

I can't believe someone would accuse you of having an eating disorder just because you look good! That's insulting!
